As well as the cold and wet conditions that winter brings, the leaves and vegetation on the ground turn brown making it easy to put down and lose your knife. With this in mind, it is well worth changing to a high-visibility knife at this time of year to avoid losing your usual tool.
Hi-Vis
The Buck Pursuit Pro is a large all-weather knife, with a high-vis handle, making it ideal for winter. The contoured handle has bright orange panels to increase its visibility and a sure-grip profile which really does allow you to keep a firm hold, even in very wet conditions. The full-tang design has part of the tang exposed in the handle section, approximately an inch back from the ricasso, with jimping on the spine to increase grip.
The blade is a ‘stubby’drop point design, nice and thick on the spine making it extremely strong. It is manufactured from S35VN steel which is easy to keep sharp. In use, the knife handled everything, from cutting heavy rope and rubber tubing to jointing and slicing meat. Edge retention was very good.
Conclusion
Overall this is a great knife, easy to use and hard to lose. All Buck knives are well made and for the darker months, the Pursuit knife on test is a particularly good choice.
