Meet The Team

DIRECTORS

Nick Griffiths
Chairman

Nick joined his parents in the family business aged 16 in 1983 after several years employed as, (in his words) ‘unpaid child labour’!

Whilst learning the fundamentals of the business, Nick complemented this learning by focusing ‘on the numbers’ by studying for accounting and financial qualifications. Nick has maintained his focus on this side of the business and he forms the bulwark of Whitby’s financial management team. Nick also works closely with the Sales & Marketing Director and the National Sales Manager, particularly enjoying the cut and thrust of working with large retail partners.

As well as his love of all things to do with classic and modern sports cars, Nick is enjoying training his young gun dog which will eventually join Nick whilst he indulges his other passion whilst game shooting. Nick also enjoys Skiing and Golf as well as foreign travel.

 

Tim Griffiths
Managing Director

Tim joined his family at Whitby & Co straight out of school in 1989, he then went on to use the invaluable experience he was gaining within work to aid his studies for a Degree in Business Studies. As the MD of a growing business his roles and responsibilities are many and varied but his core remit is for the purchasing and logistics of the goods that are the lifeblood of Whitby’s business.

Tim has a hugely creative side and he enjoys sharing his ideas with the Sales & Marketing Director and the Marketing Team. Tim IS the Whitby Catalogue! In his spare time Tim enjoys Shooting, Skiing, Tennis, Classic Cars and foreign travel.

 

Garry Woodhouse
Sales & Marketing Director

Garry joined Whitby & Co in 1996 after gaining an Honours Degree in Marketing. Garry is the embodiment of the company’s belief in bringing on new talent as his role within the business has grown and developed over the years, with the result that he is now our Sales & Marketing Director with responsibility for other areas outside the sales area including the IT strategy of the business. Garry enjoys the variety  of dividing his time between managing the sales functions within the company along with Nick and  also sharing his passion and creativity with the Marketing Team, and then ‘putting his strategy head on’ to help forge the company’s direction for the medium and long term. Away from work Garry enjoys organising and hosting outreach events at his local church and he has a current goal of teaching his young family to Ski, whilst trying to remember the basics himself!

 

John Alexander
National Sales Manager

John joined Whitby & Co in 2013 after a number of years in the cycling industry to manage the Northern Territory, and soon progressed to the role of National Sales Manager.  His knowledge and expertise has been gained through a variety of roles within the facility management, education, retail and sales environments.  Out of work he enjoys family life and the outdoors.

 

SALES TEAM

Jacqui Wright
Sales Operations Manager

Jacqui joined the team in January 2012 and has a wealth of experience in the logistics sector, customer services, sales support and systems/process analysis. She has also run her own photography business and in her spare time can be found walking in the Cumbrian fells, cycling or capturing an awe inspiring Lake District sunrise on her camera.

Working with Jacqui are Lisa, Angela, Sarah and Rebecca in the Sales Office and Mary in Credit Control.

MARKETING TEAM

Jacqui Regan
Marketing Manager

Jacqui joined Whitby’s in 1994 as an Administrative Assistant. Within a few years this role had changed and grown to become one of Marketing Assistant as well as PA to the Directors. From there Jacqui became directly responsible for much of the creative work that goes into the offline and online marketing materials that Whitby’s produces. Jacqui now forms a cornerstone of Whitby’s Marketing Team in developing the Company’s online profile through the latest forms of social media.

Lisa McDonnell

Lisa Joined Whitby’s in 1998 and worked within the Sales Office Team before getting involved with the logistics and supplier side of the business in support of Tim Griffiths. In 2010 Whitby’s underwent a re-organisation of the overall team structure which saw Lisa move onto a new challenge, that of supporting marketing functions, something she has done with considerable flair and determination. 

Sammii Shepherd

The most recent member of the Marketing Team, Sammii joined Whitby's in 2014. Working in a similar role in her previous job at a wildlife food supplies company, Sammii brings digital marketing knowledge to the team and is responsible for keeping the website up to date. She also has involvement with PR activities and creative work. In her spare time, Sammii takes her classic mini to car shows and also enjoys crafting.
